Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, announced plans to launch its first cloud region in Mexico. This strategic expansion aims to enhance cloud and AI services in Latin America. In addition to the Mexican cloud region, Alibaba Cloud plans to establish new data centers in key markets, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and South Korea, over the next three years. These initiatives are part of a broader investment to build new cloud and AI infrastructure across international markets, aiming to enhance the cloud and AI product suite for worldwide customers. Selina Yuan, President of International Business at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, stated, “With the rapidly rising demand for AI across industries, we are reinforcing our commitment to expanding our AI infrastructure and enhancing our cloud capacities worldwide.”Alibaba Cloud’s generative AI development platform, Model Studio, will soon be available to international customers via its Availability Zones in Singapore to support enterprises and developers in creating AI models and applications. Through Model Studio, customers can access Alibaba Cloud’s large language model Qwen family, which includes closed-source and open-source models with multimodal capabilities, facilitating the development of custom generative AI applications. This expansion underscores Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to enhancing its global cloud and AI capabilities, fostering innovation, and supporting the digital transformation of its international customers.
Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Chinese tech giant Alibaba Group, announced the launch of its first data center in Mexico on Wednesday, as the company aims to expand its reach in the global cloud market. The new digital infrastructure will provide cloud computing services to businesses and developers across Latin America, underscoring Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to accelerating Mexico’s digital transformation and fostering innovation throughout the region. With the addition of this new data cente Alibaba Cloud’s global infrastructure now spans 87 availability zones across 29 regions. Selina Yuan, president of international business at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence said, “We are not only bringing cloud technology to support local businesses but also building an inclusive and thriving ecosystem in Mexico together with local partners, developers, and customers to foster innovation, collaboration and sustainable growth across Latin America.”Yuan added that by leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s global network, Mexican companies can tap into other markets, especially those in Asia. The Mexico facility was launched six days after Alibaba Cloud announced that it would commence operations at its second data center in Thailand to meet the country’s growing demand for cloud services and support generative artificial intelligence applications.
